Built for the awkward parts of shift work

Night shifts, swaps, overtime, early starts. The things an ordinary calendar doesn't handle, ShiftLedger does.

  • Tap any day to change it

Swapped a shift? Tap the day. Mark it off, set custom times, add extra minutes or a bonus, or leave a note. The rest of your rotation carries on around it.

  • Nights that count properly

A shift that crosses midnight is counted correctly, and unpaid breaks come off your paid hours. Clock changes, wage changes and overtime are handled too, and tested.

  • Know your hours before payday

Week and month totals, overtime above your weekly threshold, and an estimated gross pay in your currency, with your own multipliers and bonuses. An estimate, not a payslip.

  • Reminders before your shifts

Choose how long before a shift you want a reminder. With exact reminders on, each one is scheduled for the set time or very close to it; without them, Android may delay reminders, sometimes by an hour or longer when battery saving is on.

  • Readable at 3 a.m.

High contrast, a typeface made to be legible, large text and dark mode. Every shift has a text label, so you never rely on colour alone.

  • Your data stays yours

Back up and restore with a file, and export your hours as CSV. These are never locked.

Your schedule is nobody else's business

ShiftLedger doesn't connect to the internet. Google Play handles updates and purchases. Your data is stored only on your phone and is never sent to Margera Labs, a cloud backup or any server. Only files you choose to share leave your phone.

  • No ads, no tracking

No advertising, no analytics and no tracking code in the app.

  • No account

Open the app and start. The app never asks for your name, e-mail or employer.

  • Works offline

Your calendar, totals and reminders work without an internet connection.

  • Backups you control

Your calendar can move with Android's direct phone-to-phone transfer, or as a backup file you save yourself.

What the app asks for, and why

Notifications
to show your shift reminders.
Run at startup
to set your reminders again after the phone restarts.
Vibration
to vibrate when a reminder arrives.
Alarms & reminders
to schedule a reminder for the set time or very close to it. Used only if you turn on exact reminders; without it Android may delay a reminder, sometimes by an hour or longer when it is saving battery.
Camera
only to scan the QR code of a rotation someone shares with you. It opens only when you start a scan, and no photo or video is saved. You can paste the code or open a file instead, so the camera is never required.
Google Play purchases
for the optional one-time Pro purchase, handled by Google Play.
View network connections
added by Google Play's billing library. It only checks whether a connection exists and cannot send data.

What you're really paying for

Not a calendar. Time. The rotation maths, nights across midnight, clock changes, wage changes and updates for new Android versions are done, tested and kept current, so you don't have to build or maintain any of it. Pro is also how a small independent studio keeps ShiftLedger ad-free and up to date.

Help shape ShiftLedger before it launches

We are testing on Google Play before the public launch. Google Play needs at least 12 testers to stay in the test for 14 days before an app can launch, so every tester counts. Work shifts, or just have an Android phone? Install the test version, use it for about two weeks and tell us what's missing or broken. Your feedback decides what we fix first.

The sign-up link will be here as soon as Google Play opens the test.

You need to be 18 or older, with an Android 7.0+ phone and a Google account. You can leave the test whenever you like.

As a thank-you, every tester gets Pro with a Google Play promo code when Pro launches. You don't have to rate or review anything.

Not ready to test? Write to margeralabs@gmail.com and we'll tell you when ShiftLedger is on Google Play.

Questions, answered

Short answers, no manual.

Do I need an account or an internet connection?

No and no. ShiftLedger has no sign-up and doesn't connect to the internet. Google Play handles updates and purchases. Your data is stored only on your phone and is never sent to Margera Labs, a cloud backup or any server. Only files you choose to share leave your phone.

Which rotations are included?

25 ready-made rotations, all free, with a search field. Among them: 12-hour day / night, 12 on / 36 off, 24 on / 48 off, 24 on / 72 off, 4 on / 4 off, Panama (2-2-3), DuPont, three shifts with a weekly rotation, Monday to Friday, and 6 on / 1 off. Don't see yours? Build your own cycle of up to 56 days, and change any single day later without breaking it.

How accurate is the pay figure?

It is an estimate of gross pay, built from the hourly wage, unpaid breaks, overtime threshold, multipliers and bonuses you enter. It doesn't include tax or statutory overtime rules, and it is not a payslip. Compare it with your payslip and the pay you received.

What if a reminder arrives late or doesn't ring?

Reminders are set on your phone and need no connection. Without exact reminders, Android may delay them, sometimes by an hour or longer when battery saving is on. Turn on exact reminders in the app and allow “Alarms & reminders” for ShiftLedger, and each one is scheduled for the set time or very close to it. Also allow notifications for ShiftLedger and take it off battery saving in your phone's settings.

What does Pro add, and is it a subscription?

Pro is a one-time purchase, never a subscription. It arrives with the public launch and adds pay rules (night, weekend and holiday premiums, overtime tiers, paydays), a paycheck check against ShiftLedger's estimate, partner and coworker calendars with your common days off, a PDF report for each month, several jobs, unlimited rotations and shift types, and calendar export (.ics). Pay figures are always estimates; the comparison only shows the difference. Features added to Pro later are included at no extra cost. The free version keeps one job, one rotation and up to ten shift types, and sharing your rotation and showing one shared rotation are free too. Your data, backups and CSV export are never locked either way.

I could build something like this with AI. Why buy ShiftLedger?

You may well manage a calendar, and building things is a fine skill. The hard part comes afterwards: a night shift that ends after midnight, a clock change, a wage that changes mid-month, overtime, a new Android version, a backup that brings your data back. ShiftLedger is that work, done, tested on exactly those cases and kept up to date. You are set up in about a minute, with nothing to code, test, publish or maintain, and your data stays private on your phone. The free version costs nothing to try, and Pro is one purchase for when you need more. Spend your time off on your life, not on a calendar.

How do I move my calendar to a new phone?

Android's phone-to-phone transfer can bring your calendar across directly, without a server. The surest way is a backup file: save it in the app and open it on the new phone. Backup and restore are never locked.

When can I get it, and can I try it now?

ShiftLedger is in testing and coming to Google Play. Want to try it early? Become a tester: install the test version, use it for about two weeks and tell us what to fix. Prefer to wait? Write to margeralabs@gmail.com and we'll tell you when it launches.

More questions
How do I delete my data?

Delete jobs or days in the app, clear the app’s storage, or uninstall it. The app never sends us your data, so there is no app data to delete on our side. Files you exported stay under your control.

Which languages does ShiftLedger speak?

Turkish, English, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, German, French and Italian. The app follows your phone's language and uses English otherwise. Dates, numbers and currency follow your phone's settings.

Is there an iPhone version?

Not yet. ShiftLedger starts on Android. An iPhone version may follow later.
